净土宗
(淨土宗, 净土宗)
The Pure-land sect, whose chief tenet is salvation by faith in Amitābha; it is the popular cult in China, also in Japan, where it is the Jōdo sect; it is also called [lang id =1028]蓮宗([lang id =1028]蓮花宗) the Lotus sect. Established by Hui-yuan [lang id =1028]慧遠 of the Chin dynasty (317-- 419), it claims P'u-hsien [lang id =1028]普賢 Samantabhadra as founder. Its seven chief textbooks are [lang id =1028]無量清淨平等覺經; [lang id =1028]大阿彌陀經; [lang id =1028]無量壽經; [lang id =1028]觀無量壽經; [lang id =1028]阿彌陀經; [lang id =1028]稱讚淨土佛攝受經; and [lang id =1028]鼓音聲三陀羅尼經. The[lang id =1028]淨土真宗 is the Jōdo-Shin, or Shin sect of Japan.
